Sanjit Roy was born into a wealthy family back in June 1945. When he visited the most rural villages of India, he was completely shocked by the poverty. So, in 1972 he founded barefoot college. The college is solar powered and designed for the poor. But Roy didn’t stop there. That same year, he created the Center for Social Work and Research to help provide water and irrigation to drought-prone areas.

He has since been named one of the 50 environmentalists who could save the planet. Guardian and 100 most influential people according to Time magazine.

Geoffrey Hollender

Jeffrey Hollender is the co-founder and former CEO of Seventh Generation. It was formed when Hollender and his business partner Alan Newman got their hands on a mail-order catalog containing energy-saving products. This inspired them to start their own company selling eco-friendly household appliances and products. They found gold and made $8 million in just 3 years of work.

Since retiring in 2009, Hollender has continued to be busy, co-founding the American Council for Sustainable Business. It is a coalition of businesses committed to the principles of sustainable business. Hollender has also written six books and founded Sustain Natural with his daughter, which sells personal and sexual health products.
